Boyles Solicitors COVID-19 Update

Contingency and Business Continuity Plan

The current global Covid-19 pandemic is an unprecedented challenge and will undoubtedly cause a period of disruption and uncertainty.

Boyles is still open for business, but we will of course be guided by the advice and guidance of the Scottish and UK Governments.

The health and well-being of our staff, clients and wider community is of the utmost importance, but we are determined to continue to provide the service our clients expect. Our staff are working from home and are connected to emails and calls.

Property and Estate Agency

The Registers of Scotland has taken the decision to suspend application as at 24 March 2020. This means that solicitors should not arrange to settle any property transactions until further information is available. The Law Society of Scotland is aware this will have an impact on any settlements.

The Registers of Scotland are not open but they have created a system that allows applications to be submitted electronically (this included the Disposition – title deeds) so that sales and purchases can go ahead.

Surveyors are currently allowed to inspect vacant properties and in around 7-10 days they will be allowed to inspect occupied properties.

There are daily discussions between the Law Society of Scotland, the Registers of Scotland and the UK Finance Handbook (this regulates all mortgages) and we will let you know about with any further updates.
